First XV: Vivid Festival (2014)

[#13 in a series of my favourite images, from my first 15 years as a professional photographer.]

Today's image is a funny one - and a little different to most of the others. It's one I'm fond of nonetheless, which is why it made the list of course!

What looks like a random collection of glowing orbs is the out of focus blur of a number of coloured lights, suspended under the awning of the Museum of Contemporary Art during Vivid here in Sydney, in 2014.

I was down at Circular Quay, having a look at the festival with my Fuji X-Pro 1 in hand, and somewhat accidentally tried using a macro lens, focussed to its minimum distance, to capture the lights - rather than going for detail and accuracy, I went for mood.

A bit like in the first photo in this series - sometimes, a bit of experimentation is a good thing!

Next week, another year - 2015!
